Private Violence: Anything But Private

Thursday, November 14, 2013 17:00until 19:00

Mitchell County SafePlace and Yancey County Family Violence Coalition are proud to present an exclusive sneak peak into the documentary "Private Violence". This documentary tackles the myths and misconceptions about domestic violence that makes the world a dangerous place for 1 in 4 women. It is one of just 29 documentary films selected to receive a grant from The Sundance Institute. Executive Producer, Project Creator and domestic violence survivor, Kit Gruelle will be showing selected preview clips of this most amazing and shocking documentary. Also, special guest Rolf Holmquist, who lost his family to a domestic violence murder/suicide in May of 2012, will share his tragic story with us in his resolve to fight against domestic violence. There will be time for questions and discussion. Light refreshments will be served and donations will be gratefully accepted. Proceeds will benefit the work of the Yancey County Family Violence Coalition and Mitchell County SafePlace.
